AUSTRALIAN ALUMNI AWARD 2010
GUIDELINES
Purpose of Awards
The Australian Alumni Awards are an annual award scheme designed to recognise outstanding talent, achievements and contributions made to Indonesia by Australian alumni living and working in Indonesia today. The Australian Alumni Awards were first held in February 2008 and are an initiative of Australian Education International (AEI) at the Australian Embassy in Indonesia.
Nominations for the awards can be made by members of the general public in Indonesia and Australia, including alumni, government, education institutions, industry and business and so on. Both Australian alumni and non-Australian alumni are welcome to give their nominations.
Eligibility for Nomination
- Nominees must have displayed an ongoing high level of achievement in the award category.
- Nominees must have studied in Australia for at least 12 months (this can be at the primary or higher educational levels) or have completed a course of study in Australia (if the nominations are for the Australian Alumni Award for Excellence in National Security Governance).
- The awards are not designed to reward those who are nearing graduation.
- To be eligible for nomination, alumni do not have to be currently working in the particular discipline from which they graduated.
- Permission must be obtained from the alumna/us nominated before proceeding with a nomination.
Closing Date for Nominations
Nominations close on Friday, 5 March 2010. Applications submitted on this date (up to midnight Jakarta time) will be accepted. Any nominations submitted after this date will not be accepted by the online system and not considered for the awards.
Short Listing Process for Nominations
All awards are merit based. The selection process is two stage process involving two separate panels for each stage of the selection process. The first stage of short listing the nominated alumni will be conducted by a panel from within the Australian Embassy.
Selection of Winners from the Final Nominees
The final selection of the winners for each category will be conducted by a panel of independent judges from within the Australian alumni community in Indonesia. Individuals will be invited to the panel based on their credibility, objectivity, and expertise in the field within which they are judging.
The final nominees will be announced in April 2010. The winners of each category will be announced at a special ceremony in May 2010. For alumni who are not yet members of OzMate, please sign up for free via: www.ozmate.org.
