Film plays an important role in our lives. FIlms provide entertainment, but also give us pleasure, can inspire us, make us happy, laugh or cry, and even scare us half to death! It was a great pleasure for OZMATE to present the very first Australian Alumni Short Film Festival on 20 March 2010 that celebrates the talents and achievements of Australian graduates in the Indonesian film industry. The Directors, Producers and Writers shared with their fellow Australian alumni and their mates all their imagination, fantasies, thoughts, and most importantly, their love and passion in film.

Some photos of the Festival are displayed below:

Wahyu Aditya (left) interviewed by ABC Radio Australia and Mira Lesmana (right) opened the Film Festival.  Adit is the Director of the animation comedy 'Tahi Sapi atau Bukan?' (Cow Shit or Not?), and Mira is one of Indonesia's most celebrated film producers and directors. Both studied in Australia.

The funny scenes in 'Kambing Jantan' (left) and 'Jakarta 2012' (right) managed to make the audiences laugh out loud.  Kambing Jantan is a drama comedy which was inspired by Raditya Dika's blog about his experience while juggling between studying finance, long distance relationship and following his parents' dream in Australia. Directed by Andra Fembriarto, Jakarta 2012 is a very funny satire on how the people of Jakarta choose to adapt to the flood rather than fixing it.

Left: Kimo of the MO Brothers and Debora Christy shared their experiences in making film with the audience, hosted by Trax FM Radio's Molen Kasetra (middle). The Mo Brothers, who consists of Kimo and Timo, produced 'Dara', a thriller/slasher which managed to scare us half to death!

Right: Musical performance by Adrian Adioetomo. Adrian's performance has attracted the attentions of concert-goers and live music aficionados, ushering him to international events like Java Jazz and Jakarta Bluesfest.

During the break, all guests enjoyed variety of all-you-can-eat food and drinks for free (left). Shannon Smith (the Festival Director) and Mira Lesmana (right) were enjoying the films made by Australian alumni.
