On 23 October 2008, AEI in cooperation with Central Queensland University hosted a seminar on education at the Australian Embassy. More than 150 academics, educational experts and professionals in the education field participated in this seminar. Dr. Alison Owens from Central Queensland University and Dr. Tjahjaning Tingastuti Surjosuseno, a CQU Alumna and lecturer at Widya Mandala University, delivered presentations on current issues and challenges for international and intercultural education in today's globalised world. According to Dr. Owens, "It remain unclear how international education can be achieved in the university curricula, pedagogy and other support services." She further explains that "There is an important ethical consideration on educationg our students as global citizen who have strong interculural awareness and communicative competence."
Dr. Tjahjaning Surjosuseno further elaborates that, "The creation of understanding, tolerance and respect of different multicultural groups are particularly valuable in order to include the multiple identities of diverse population at all levels of education."
