For your Indonesian movies references, here are the reviews of the nominated FFI 2008 movies as follow:

3 Doa 3 Cinta (Best Supporting Actor)

Released on December 2008, the movie is about 3 stories about Huda (Nicholas Saputra), Rian (Yoga Pratama) and Syahid (Yoga Bagus) as best friend. They tried to fulfil their dream and wishes of their life which they have written them on a secret place. Dont miss the act of Dona Satelit (Dian Sastrowardoyo), a dangdut singer.

Claudia/ Jasmine (Best Editing)

Released February 2008, directed by Awi Suryadi and starring Kirana Larasati (as Claudia) and Kinaryosih (as Jasmine). This comedy-drama movie shares about Claudia’s and Jasmine’s views on love. Claudia always believe that she’ll have her true love with Tody (Andika Pratama), unlike Claudia, Jasmine never believe on true love until she met Jerry (Nino Fernandes). But both Claudia and Jasmine experience events which will change their views on love.

Fiksi (Best Film, Best Scenario, Best Director & Best Music)

Released June 2008, directed by Mouly Surya and starring Ladya Cheryl (as Alisha), Donny Alamsyah (as Bari) and Kinaryosih (as Renta). This thriller-drama movie starts with the empty life of Alisha until she heard the whistle of Bari, where she the put so much interest upon him that she’ll do anything to get closer with Bari, includes murdering Renta.

May (Best Cinematography & Best Sound Effect)

Released August 2008, the movie is about May 1998 riots in Jakarta and the production take place at Malaysia.
The cinematography, actor and actress performance create a beautiful story about love, passion and humanity. Starring Yama Carlos, Jenny Chang, Ria Irawan, Niniek L Karim, Tutie Kirana, Jajang C Noer, Tio Pakusadewo, Lukman Sardi and others.

Under The Tree (Best Supporting Actress & Best Artistic)

Has not released yet in Indonesia, but this movie has create awes through film festivals, starring Marcella Zalianty, Ayu Laksmi and Nadia Saphira. Indonesian filmmaker Garin Nugroho tells a story of three women coming to terms with issues of women, births and death. Maharani, an adopted child, who seeks the true meaning of motherhood; Nian, who is in search of a new father figure; and expectant 40-year old mother Dewi, who faces a tough choice regarding her unborn baby.

Radit & Jani (Best Actor & Best Actress)

Released January 2008, directed by Upi Avianto and starring Fahrani (as Jani) and Vino G Bastian (as Radit). This drama-romantic movie is not as cheesy as the genre. Jani and Radit are newly-weds, Radit has problem with drugs addiction until Jani find herself pregnant and both have to struggle for life and love.

Lost in Love

Released May 2008, directed and written by Rachmania Arunita. This movie tells about the love adventure of Tita (starred by Pevita Pearce) to find her way back home to her love and family, starring also Chrisye Subono, Adrian Subono and Arifin Putra.

Doa yang Mengancam

Released September 2008, directed by Hanung Bramantyo and starring Aming (as Madrim), Titi Kamal (as Leha), Jojon (as Pak Kades) and others. This movie tells about Madrim, who hope for a better financial life that he threat God through his prayer. Until comes a day when he only hopes that he can find his wife, Leha.

Otomatis Romantis

Released January 2008, directed by Guntur Soeharjanto with screenplay writer Monty Tiwa. Starring Marsha Timothi (as Nadia), Tora Sudiro (as Bambang), Tukul Arwana (Dave), Mpok Atiek, Chintami Atmanegara and Wulan Guritno, this comedy movie tells about the love finding by Nadia, a journalist who often wrote about love tips, until she met Bambang, an ordinary staff from a sub urban area.


Kawin Kontrak

Released January 2008, directed by Ody Harahap and starring Dimas Aditya (as Rama), Mieke Amalia (as Ibu Aan), Masayu Anastasia (as Rani) and others. Just like the title, The Gank consist of Rama, Jodi and Dika have the same obsession which carries them to experience ‘contract marriage’ in a comedy way.


The Butterfly

Released on 2007, directed by Nayato Fio Nuola. Starring Andhika Pratama, Debby Kristi and Poppy Sovia. The movie tells about a triangle relation ship among Vano, Tia and Desi, where Vano secretly falls in love with Desi while Desi is being protective for Tia’s feeling.

Kuntilanak 3

Released March 2008, directed by Rizal Mantovani. Starring Julie Estelle, Ida Iasha, Cyndi Valerie, Laudya Cynthia Bella, Reza Pahlevi and many others. The movie starts where Darwin, Asti, Herman and Petra went to Ujung Sedo Village to find their lost friends. On the end, all humans collide to defeat against strong evil power.
