Sandy is one of the most versatile composers and drummers in Indonesia. His musical journey started with the piano when he was a teenager but after he finished high school, Sandy fell in love with drums and decided to pursue his career as a percussionist. He studied at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, majoring in Drums-Performance in 2000, and then obtained his Bachelor of Music Performance in 2004.
After returning to Indonesia, Sandy has been fortunate to play with many musicians and groups including: Magenta Orchestra, Glenn Fredly, I Wayan Balawan , Tjut Nyak Deviana Quartet, Tohpati, Aminoto Kosin Big Band, Dewa Budjana, Trisum, Benny Likumahuwa, Dwiki Dharmawan World Peace Project, Roger Burns, Andy Suzuki and Steve Thornton. In 2007, he formed the jazz experimental group Tao Kombo Collective Messkeepers and has since played in many local Jazz Festivals. Currently Sandy is busy teaching in Institut Musik Daya Indonesia and working on his “learn how to play drums website”.
