After studying at the Indra Lesmana Indonesian Music School, Reza studied drums at the Australian Institute of Music in 1995 and Visual Arts at Southern Cross University in 1998. He began his musical career performing with various musicians in Jakarta before moving to Australia. While living in Australia, Reza devoted himself to introducing his cultural background and traditions to Australia through numerous forms of music and dance. Reza has since performed and recorded CDs with several bands bands in Australia, including: The Dream Catcher, TJ Eckleberg, Anything But Roy, GengGong (with Sawung Jabo) Garis, Gongbaby and UBROS .
Reza has worked on several innovative cross-cultural theatre projects like “Hip Hop Horse” (City Moon theatre) a theatrical fusion show on Indonesia and Vietnam, and an Urban Theatre Project called “MECHANIX” where he was the Music Director. Reza has also worked as a performer and facilitator on Channel V, SBS TV and the Power House Museum. He is currently working with MUSICA VIVA in schools with his group ‘MAKUKUHAN” with Ron Reeves and Deva Permana in Sydney. Reza is currently in the process of producing the second album of his new group "The Tomato" (formerly UBROS) in Indonesia.
