Tommy Tjokro, popularly known as ‘Mr Jakarta’, was born in Braunschweig, Germany. Tjokro received his bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Central Queensland University Brisbane in 2001. In 2002 he participated in the MBA program at Brisbane’s Queensland University of Technology.
Following his studies in Australia, Tommy was a radio host for Radio 4EB in Brisbane, Australia. Upon returning to Indonesia he joined Metro TV in 2003. Currently, Tommy anchors several Metro TV programs including Metro Siang and Public Corner.
In 2005, Tommy was awarded the title ‘Mr Jakarta’ through the Abang-None Competition, a youth and culture organisation. Tommy became well known around Jakarta for his promotion of Jakarta Tourism as the 2005 Tourism Ambassador.
